Isaac Shoulderblade is a woodworker who creates hand-beaded jewelry from wooden. This involves cutting wood to the right size for the ring, carving space for beads and then attaching the epoxy to the rings. Finally, sanding the entire thing down. Shoulderblade was not able to grow up in the Northern Cheyenne culture, the tribe he was born into, because he was raised in foster care. He has been on a journey over the last year to discover more about his cultural heritage, including how to bead. He started making rings as a hobby and gained popularity by sharing his process on TikTok. This led to him starting a custom-jewelry company. Shoulderblade is making his Every Child Matters Ring. It features 215 beads representing the 215 remains of children who were buried in a former school for Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
