How did Big John survive Day Shift and how can this be? Snoop Dogg’s fate explained

Day Shift, the latest horror comedy on Netflix, stars Jamie Foxx as Bud and Big John. They are vampire hunters who travel around Los Angeles in search of their fanged fiends.

Understandably, their line of work is a dangerous one and in the final act of the film, Snoop Dogg’s Big John is apparently killed off – only for it to be revealed that he’s alive in the final scene.

But just how did Big John survive the events of Day Shift and what does it mean for Snoop Dogg’s character?

The film stars Jamie Foxx and tells the story Bud Jablonski. He is a blue-collar dad who works as a pool cleaner in San Fernando Valley to provide for his family.

However, little does Bud’s family really know that the business is secretly the front for a union of vampire hunters who scour Los Angeles in search of the blood-sucking monsters.

When Bud’s estranged wife Jocelyn threatens to move his daughter Paige to Florida, Bud needs to earn some money fast and he seeks the help of vampire hunting pal Big John (Snoop Dogg) when he provokes the most dangerous vampire in Southern California, Audrey.

Big John’s heroic sacrifice

Audrey is furious at Bud for killing the wrong vampire. Jocelyn and Paige take revenge on Bud, forcing Bud and his comrades to join forces and explore a maze of tunnels below Los Angeles to find Audrey.

The gang comes under heavy attack by a group of vampires and during the skirmish, Snoop Dogg’s Big John is bitten by one of the bloodsuckers.

He reassures Bud that he’s ok and that it’s just a flesh wound, but he closes a gate between them both and tells Bud to go on without him.

Big John makes an valiant effort to stop more vampires from appearing on the scene. However, he uncovers a bomb vest beneath his jacket which he detonates in order to kill any approaching vampires.

How did Big John survive Day Shifts?

Big John is still alive in Day Shift’s last scene, as he climbs up from the sewers to get back into LA.

Snoop Dogg style, he lightens up a joint, and then says, “That’s what I love about LA, all the damn vampires,”Before he walks off into the night.

Big John survived his apparent death in Day Shift as he’s now technically a vampire.

Thanks to being bitten by one of the bloodsuckers in the subterranean tunnels, Snoop Dogg’s character will have been converted into a vampire himself, meaning that he is now immortal.
