Breaking News: Alleged German-Russian Spies Arrested for Planning Sabotage on Military Aid for Ukraine
Two alleged spies suspected of planning to sabotage military aid intended for Ukraine have been arrested. The men, identified only as Dieter S and Alexander J, are said by officials to be dual German-Russian nationals.
The Arrest of German-Russian Spies:
Prosecutors said Dieter S had been discussing possible acts of sabotage in Germany with a person linked to Russian intelligence since October. He was also accused of declaring himself willing to carry out bombing and arson attacks on military infrastructure. Alexander J is said to have helped him gather information on potential targets, including US military sites, last month.
Suspected Sabotage on Military Aid for Ukraine:
The pair were arrested in the Bavarian town of Bayreuth on Wednesday. Germany has become the second-biggest supplier of weapons to Ukraine after the US. The U.S. has a large military presence in Germany. A judge on Wednesday ordered Dieter S. kept in custody pending a possible indictment. Alexander J. was due to make a closed-doors court appearance on Thursday.
Accusations and Separate Charges:
Dieter S. also faces separate accusations of belonging to an armed unit of pro-Russian separatist forces in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine between December 2014 and September 2016. Russian tanks and boats as Putin’s troops turn to ‘illegal’ gas attacks in Ukraine have recently been obliterated by Ukrainian drones.
With the arrest of these alleged German-Russian spies, the plot to sabotage military aid intended for Ukraine has been thwarted. The international community remains vigilant in ensuring the safety and security of military aid shipments to conflict zones.
