Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst has died at the age of 30

Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst has died.

Insider was confirmed by a spokesperson for the New York Police Department that Kryst jumped off a Manhattan 60-story building where she was a resident on Sunday morning.

Kryst was 30 years of age when she won Miss USA in 2019. She represented North Carolina.

Insider was informed by Kryst’s relatives that they are familiar with the queen of the pageant. “impact will live on.”

Kryst was also a reporter at Extra TV. Insider received a statement from a spokesperson stating that the company was devastated by this news.

“Our hearts are broken,”It was as follows: “Cheslie was not just a vital part of our show, she was a beloved part of our Extra family and touched the entire staff. Our deepest condolences to all her family and friends.”

Hours before her death, Kryst shared her last Instagram post. The caption said, “May this day bring you rest and peace.”

Kryst, a complex litigation lawyer, worked pro bono for clients who were sentenced to excessive time for low level drug offenses. One client was sentenced to life imprisonment. Kryst helped release him. She also spent many years raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Dress for Success, and Dress for Success.

Kryst will be competing in Miss Universe 2019.

Kryst was part a historic moment in 2019, when Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA went to women of color.

Kryst said at the time to Insider that it was an honor to be part of this group. “surreal.”

“I try to think of pageants as representative of what is happening now, and where we could go,”She spoke. “So I was glad we could set this example, because there were so many women who messaged us afterward and said, ‘You’ve inspired me to compete in pageants.’ I just think this is an important moment, and maybe people can carry this inspiration into other areas of their lives.”

Kryst used her platform also to voice out about Black Lives Matter during protests against police brutality that swept across the US after George Floyd’s assassination in June 2020.

Kryst was also a lawyer specializing in complex litigation, and a host on Extra TV.

“I’ve been waiting my whole life to advocate for causes that are important to me,”In November 2020, she spoke out to Insider. “And one of those is Black Lives Matter, it is racial equality, it is criminal justice reform. And now all of those issues are at the forefront of people’s minds.”

“I just think, ‘Wow, now I can speak out,'”She spoke. “And not just as Cheslie Kryst, but as the reigning Miss USA. And I think that’s a really large message to be able to get across to people.”
