FLU and Covid vaccinations are soaring thanks to Central Recorder’s Do The Double campaign.

We ask Brits to take precautions against these viruses, before the World Cup in Qatar begins on Sunday.

Since launching our campaign last week, the number jabbed against flu has surged from 15million to 16million — out of 33million eligible.

Out of 26 million, covid injections grew from 14million to 14.6million.

Health minister Maria Caulfield said yesterday: “I welcome Central Recorder’s continued support of our vaccine programme.

“I know readers are excited to spend quality time with their loved ones this Christmas.

“However, we can anticipate that as people meet more than they have been able to during the last few winters, Covid and flu may spread more quickly.”

Professor Sir Stephen Powis, NHS medical director, urged: “Give yourself maximum protection before England kick off their campaign on Monday.”

Figures show 6,263 people in England booked flu shots online last weekend — more than double the 3,031 the weekend before.

17 million people are still eligible for flu vaccines, and 11 million can receive an Omicron Covid booster.

Ministers want to increase jab use among health care workers. Only five percent are currently vaccinated for flu and 12 percent against Covid.

Online appointments can be booked by calling 119, contacting a pharmacy, or contacting a GP surgery.

Do the Double

By MARIA CAULFIELD, Minister for Mental Health & Women’s Health Strategy

ALMOST 15 million autumn Covid boosters have been given, equivalent to nearly 60 per cent of people eligible.

We know how important it is to ensure that our vaccines are up-to-date to protect ourselves as well as our loved ones.

It is not the right time to become complacent.

All eligible people should apply for flu and Covid jabs.

Do The Double – it could be the most important thing you do this Christmas.
