Fandom acquires TV Guide and Metacritic from Red Ventures

Fandom, an online platform for entertainment, has bought TV Guide and Metacritic in a $55m deal with Red Ventures.

The agreement will add Metacritic, GameSpot, Cord Cutters News, Comic Vine and Giant Bomb to the entertainment platform’s current brands, which include ScreenJunkies and Fanatical.

TPG private equity fund backs Fandom. The parent company of Fandom started as an entertainment site. This prompted fan engagement and led to the acquisition which will see Fandom reach over 350 million monthly active users.

FanDNA, an entertainment platform that tracks engagement, was also launched. This data service is used to support studios as well as other companies.

Red Ventures purchased CNET from ViacomCBS for $500 million in 2020. CNET will remain in the hands of Red Ventures.

Fandom did not immediately respond to ’s request for comment.
