Erling Haaland appeared to channel prime Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Sunday evening as he scored a tremendous looping half-volley to seal Borussia Dortmund a 4-2 win over Union Berlin.
With his 24th minute header, the Norwegian powerhouse gave his side the lead.
His goal in the final minute was the highlight of his performance. He performed an amazing acrobatic finish at the penalty box edge. The ball seemed to hover in the air for hours before finally landing into the net.
His near-horizontal hitting of the ball, and the way the ball was inched in were reminiscent of Ibrahimovic’s goal. This included his incredible bicycle kick for Sweden against England.
The 21-year-old has taken the footballing world by storm since his move to Dortmund in 2020.
He has grown to be one of the best strikers on the planet, scoring an amazing 68 goals across all competitions.
He continued his streak of breaking records on Wednesday by scoring his 21st Champions League Goal in 17 games. This earned him a hug from Jude Bellingham, another wonder-kid.
The goal machine was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer but Dortmund were unwilling to let him go, meaning he is likely off next summer with his release clause believed to be in the region of £63million.
For now, he is a Dortmunder and his remarkable goal-scoring feats have been a source of joy for fans.
Is Haaland likely to surpass Ibrahimovic’s feats? Let us know in the comments section.
