RuPaul’s show “RuPaul’s Drag Race” bagged the outstanding competition program award at the 2021 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 19, making the 60-year-old the new record holder for most Emmys of any Black artist with eleven total statues.
In his speech, he thanked the young contestants on his show from worldwide and praised them stating they are polite enough to tell their stories through the show.

“Thanks to all our lovely children on our show from around the world,” the reality star said while accepting the prestigious award, adding:
“They are so gracious to tell their stories of courage and how to navigate this difficult life, even more, difficult today. This is for you.”
He then referenced the people who do watch the show and said they have a tribe waiting for them while relaying the same message twice with enthusiasm.
RuPaul surpassed cinematographer Donald A. Morgan as the most-awarded Black artist when he recently won the Outstanding Host for a Reality Program at the Creative Arts Emmys and has previously won the category for six consecutive years.
The show won four awards in total during the ceremony. During his speech, the model recalled how he began his television career four decades ago in Atlanta.
He also expressed appreciation to the people in showbusiness who have been kind to him and noted sweetness and kindness are at the top of his list of human virtues.
Previously, when asked about making his recent milestone, RuPaul said it was not a big deal for him. The executive producer shared he has all the scars to show from a career in the entertainment industry.
He revealed he started on stage for money for the first time back in 1982 and has been doing it ever since while admitting it has not been easy but has enjoyed every moment of it.
RuPaul has hosted the series since its 2009 inception, which sees numerous drag queen contestants flaunt their different personas and talent in weekly challenges as they compete for a cash prize and a crown.
Continuing his longest-running stint, he remained the most-awarded host since they first established the category in 2008. The series also won for its editing, casting, and directing at the ceremony.
