Ed Miliband perfectly used the tweet ‘the Chaos with Ed Miliband” against Tories

We beg you to stop thinking you’ve heard it before. The Tories are in complete chaos, and it is their fault.

Six weeks into her job as prime minister Liz Truss is under intense scrutiny by experts, opposition MPs, and members of her party due to a disastrous mini budget.

Kwasi Kwarteng, her ex-chancellor, has been fired for the chaos caused by the budget that saw the value the pound fall and mortgages go into a tailspin.

Maybe then, the word “chaos” is a great way to summarize what is happening in government right now. It could also be used to describe something that could have been avoided back in 2015.

If you can recall the summer of 2012, Ed Miliband was Labour’s leader and their choice for the next Tony Blair. Unfortunately for him, it was not meant to be. He made a series of mistakes such as not eating a regular bacon sandwich. Tablette in large stoneIt didn’t capture the imagination of the public so they chose David Cameron.

Miliband saw one bright spot in this, and that was the now-famous tweet by Cameron, which created a conundrum. “Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice – stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband.”

You’ve probably seen this tweet many times over the years. It always comes up when the Tories find themselves in trouble. This tweet feels more accurate than ever given the current self-inflicted circumstances that the Tories are currently in, whether it’s the aftermath of Brexit, Theresa May continually failing to get the Commons majority, Boris Johnson’s numerous controversies or Theresa May.

The circle of life was completed, at least politically, when Miliband himself resurrected Cameron’s famous tweet (which somehow hasn’t been deleted yet), and responded with a simple clown emoticon.

Sometimes, the best quips don’t require words.

But he wasn’t done there. In a follow-up tweet, he added: “The fever that has taken over the Tory party didn’t start with Liz Truss. Trickle down economics has been the guiding philosophy for 12 years. It has failed.”

Miliband now seems to be more confident than he was 8 years ago. What a wonderful thing…
