*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Wednesday*

As it should be, the Addams Family have an odd group with each member having an extraordinary ability.

Arguably the most bizarre member of the family, however, is Thing, a sentient severed hand that acts as Wednesday Addams’ trusty companion in the new Netflix series.

Thing does get into all kinds of trouble on the show, but none more than episode 7. Wednesday returned to her dorm only to find that Thing was stabbed to death and Thing was pinned against the wall.

She rushes him off to Uncle Fester for emergency treatment with the scene leaving both fans and Wednesday fearing for him – but does Thing actually die?

Thing in Netflix’s Wednesday

Thing is introduced in Wednesday’s opening episode as he is released by Morticia and Gomez Addams to keep an eye on Wednesday while she’s at Nevermore Academy.

Throughout the series, Thing proves to be a helpful companion for Wednesday as he assists in her investigation into the ongoing killing spree, spies on suspects, delivers messages and even helps to sabotage other teams in Nevermore’s Poe Cup boat race.

While Thing is meant to be Wednesday’s companion, he also has a life of his own and makes friends with Wednesday’s roommate Enid and even finds himself in the secret society for Nevermore’s elite students.

Does Thing die in Wednesday?

No. Thing is not dead by Wednesday night.

Although, it’s a very close call as the events of episode 7 see him come within moments of death.

Wednesday, after her date with Tyler on Wednesday night, discovers her dorm is in disarray and Thing is pinned against the wall.

She rushes him over to Uncle Fester who, thankfully, is able to revive him – but only just.

Wednesday then stitches up his wound, leaving him with another gnarly scar to add to the previous wounds he’s suffered, which show that he has very much been in the wars over the years.

Which one plays Thing

Although many may mistakenly believe that Thing was created with CGI, Victor Dorobantu or, more precisely, his hands actually portray the character.

Victor is a Romanian magician and illusionist from the city of Ploiesti who turned his talents to hand acting for Netflix’s Wednesday.
