Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon Had To Shut Down Literally One Day After Reopening

Depending on where you live, there’s a fair chance winter has been pretty weird for you this year. That’s true even in Florida where Disney World ushered in the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon after a lengthy shutdown this weekend. The water park was able to reopen Typhoon Lagoon after a long shutdown. It took only 24 hours for this news to happen. Orlando theme parkOne day after opening, the business had to be shut down again. Here’s what happened. Typhoon Lagoon was stopped for a while as part the parks’ phased reopenings. It was almost two years since the water park closed. The closure was part of Covid-19’s full and complete shutdown. Extended closures that started in March 2020. This is unlike other Disney parks. It brought back the magicTyphoon Lagoon vanished as soon as it could. its counterpart Blizzard Beach reopenedThe park was shut down by Disney World for refurbishments.

Disney pulled out the red-carpet for returning guests and new guests on their first day back. All seemed to be going well… and then a cold front came in.

When I say “cold front,”It was cold enough to close down a Florida water park. It closed the doors again Monday, just one day after Typhoon Lagoon reopened them to the public. Why? The cold front made it feel like 60 degrees outside. WDW Magic.

I personally would be delighted if that was the temperature near me; however, for water activities, it’s a little low. Even though the park attempts to keep the water temperature between 78-82 degrees, it is not always possible. Orlando, Florida can sometimes get cold, or cold-ish, so this is not a case where everything went as planned.

However, Orlando is currently experiencing a high temperature of 76 degrees today. It will continue to rise over the next few days and then climb up into the 80s for the weekend. After this short opening/shutting issue, the water park has reopened and visitors can now plan when they’d like to visit. It’s only one of a slew of delays Disney World has faced in recent months, but it’s nice to know things are back on track and guests will now be able to check out that epic wave pool again.
