Marvel fans in certain countries have already seen Thor: Love and ThunderIt will be available in theaters across the country on Thursday, and it will be a popular choice for many. The official release date of Thor 4 is Friday, July 8th, if you can’t make it to any of the previews. Unfortunately, you can’t watch Thor: Love and ThunderOn Disney PlusThe film premieres simultaneously in theaters.
Early estimates suggest Love and ThunderThe film is expected to bring in a lot of people to the theaters, and will make approximately $300 million in ticket sales. The film should continue to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in the following weekends, and that’s a better outcome for Disney’s bottom line than a Disney Plus release. However, Love and Thunderstreaming should be available online within a matter of days.
Disney’s recipe for Marvel movies
Black Widow remains Marvel’s only MCU title that got a day-and-date release, hitting cinemas and Disney Plus with Premier Access simultaneously. After more than a decade of delays due to pandemics, the film arrived nearly two years later than the previous MCU movie. That’s why Disney made an exception for it, giving it a streaming release.
All MCU movies that came after it got theatrical releases. Reports said that’s what Marvel wanted for the movie. And the Black Widow PR scandal tied to the film’s Disney Plus release might have further convinced Disney to avoid day-and-date releases.
Disney has also committed to making MCU movies available on the streaming service 45 days after they are released. Thor: Love and Thunder will surely follow the same pattern, which means you’ll be able to stream the movie online much sooner than expected.
Thor: Love and ThunderRelease date for Disney Plus
Marvel and Disney have yet to announce the streaming date for upcoming MCU movies. That sort of reveal follows well after the movie’s theatrical debut. Same goes for Thor: Love and Thunder. We don’t have an official Disney Plus release date for it.
The 45-day rule lets us know when the new Disney Plus will be released. Thor movie. It is simple math that tells us this. Love and Thunder might hit Disney Plus on August 22nd. Only that’s a Monday, so it can’t happen.
Disney Plus updates its content Wednesdays with new content. As a result, August 24th seems like the more likely release date for the movie on Disney’s streaming service.
We’re only speculating for the time being, but we’ll point out that Disney stuck to a similar pattern for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The movie released on Disney Plus in June 22nd, approximately 47 days after its May 6, release date.
Spider-Man has no way home remains the only exception to these rules, but that’s because the movie doesn’t belong to Disney. Sony owns the rights and has several licensing agreements that protect it. There is no way homeDisney Plus streaming available.
How to get back to Love and ThunderThe film will be available on digital platforms on the same day it begins streaming on Disney Plus. Blu-ray releases will be delayed.
