As popular as Disney Plus is, the streaming service doesn’t release nearly as much original content as its rivals. Netflix releases 15 to 20 new movies and shows every week, while Disney Plus only releases a few. What Disney Plus is lacking in quantity, it makes up in quality. The best new Disney Plus shows of the week
Ok, we are actually starting with a Marvel show, but I promise the rest of the shows aren’t part of the MCU. Disney Plus has a row on its homepage of popular shows, and this week’s list includes All five I Am GrootShorts.
If you hadn’t heard, Marvel Studios released five original shorts starring everyone’s favorite Guardian of the Galaxy on August 10. They’re all about five minutes a piece, and unlike most other Marvel shows, they aren’t fundamental to the MCU.

Next up is the critically-acclaimed, universally-loved children’s show Bluey. Parents and children alike are enjoying the third season of Disney Plus, which was released on August 10. Parents and parents of young children will likely be familiar with this content. Bluey. It’s about an anthropomorphic puppy growing up with her family. If you’ve never seen the show, the episodes only run between 8-10 minutes, so give it a shot.
The third season finally arrives. High School Musical: The Musical Series (yes, that’s the name) appears to be attracting plenty of eyeballs. This live-action spinoff of the beloved series is High School MusicalMovie series are one of the most loved original shows outside Marvel and Star WarsDisney Plus. It’s the kind of show that not every streamer would make. The show has been renewed by Disney already for a fourth series, so don’t hesitate to invest.
