Discover why Jake Gyllenhaal is hesitant to take on the intimidating role of Batman!

Who Will Be the Next Batman in the DCU?

Jake Gyllenhaal’s Interest in Playing Batman

Jake Gyllenhaal isn’t the only actor who’s expressed interest in portraying the Dark Knight. Along with him, “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson has also mentioned that he would be honored to take on the role of Batman in the DC Universe. It’s worth mentioning that Ritchson has prior experience with DC Comics adaptations, having previously played Hawk on Max’s live-action series “Titans.”

Jensen Ackles as a Potential Candidate

Another actor linked to the role of Batman is “The Boys” star Jensen Ackles. Rumors circulated that he might be cast as Batman in the DCU, with James Gunn responding to these speculations on Twitter back in December 2023, debunking them by stating, “There’s no script yet. Of course, it’s false.” Despite this, Ackles, who currently voices Batman in the Tomorrowverse, has expressed his willingness to take on the iconic character. During the Italian fan convention Jus In Bello earlier that year, Ackles mentioned, “I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I want to do it? Yes.”

The Competition for the Role of Batman

With both Ritchson and Ackles showing interest in playing Batman in the DCU, the competition for the coveted role is fierce. As of now, it remains uncertain whether James Gunn will select Gyllenhaal, Ritchson, Ackles, or another actor to portray Batman in the upcoming film “The Brave and the Bold.” This highly anticipated movie is set to follow the releases of “Superman” and “The Authority” in July 2025.
