Apple’s MagSafe chargers are small pads that magnetically attach to the back of your iPhone. They power it up using wireless charging while snapped securely to the iPhone.

Apple says that several iPhone versions offer full MagSafe support, including “iPhone 15 models, iPhone 14 models, iPhone 13 models, iPhone 12 models”.

In a Reddit thread posted this week, Apple fans revealed their love for the accessory. The original post creator described how MagSafe is a huge help at night: “MagSafe is literally the best thing ever!

“I’m sure people have said the same thing about MagSafe but man is it my favorite thing since upgrading from my iPhone 8 Plus!

“I can mount my phone in the car with out looking, I always know where my charger is at night and I don’t have to fiddle around trying to plug it in!”

Another iPhone owner said: “It’s always been severely underrated honestly.”

And one added: “It’s genuinely my favorite iPhone feature. Use it daily. Never have to think about it. I’ve plugged my phone in twice since buying it.”

Apple launched the iPhone version of MagSafe in October 2020, alongside its iPhone 12.

Unlock the Potential: How to Use MagSafe Chargers Effortlessly

First, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got one of the supported iPhone models (15, 14, 13, or 12). Then you’ll need to purchase a MagSafe charger, which costs $39 plus tax in the United States, or £45 in the United Kingdom.

Next connect the USB-C connector on your MagSafe charger to an Apple power adapter (or a USB-C port on a computer).

Place the MagSafe charger face up on a flat surface. Make sure it’s clear of any metal objects or “other foreign materials”, Apple’s official advice explains.

Then place your iPhone on the charger. The back of your iPhone should snap against the MagSafe charger, letting you know that it’s connected correctly. If everything has worked, your iPhone should display that it’s currently charging.

Unlock the Full Potential with Apple’s Official MagSafe Guidelines

Here’s the official advice as quoted directly from Apple’s support memo…

  • Your MagSafe Charger is designed for faster and most efficient charging with iPhone 15 models, iPhone 14 models, iPhone 13 models, iPhone 12 models, and Apple MagSafe accessories.
  • When charging a non-MagSafe Qi-compatible device with a MagSafe Charger, power is reduced and charge times may be slower than on a typical Qi charger.
  • Don’t place credit cards, security badges, passports, or key fobs between your iPhone and MagSafe Charger, because this might damage magnetic strips or RFID chips in those items.
  • If you have a case that holds any of these sensitive items, remove them before charging or make sure that they aren’t between the back of your device and the charger.
  • If your iPhone is connected to both a MagSafe Charger and power via a Lightning port, your iPhone will charge via the Lightning connector.
  • As with other wireless chargers, your iPhone or MagSafe Charger might get slightly warmer while your iPhone charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent.
  • If you keep your iPhone in a leather case while charging with your MagSafe Charger, the case might show circular imprints from compression of the leather. This is normal, but if you’re concerned about this, we suggest using a non-leather case.
