Discover the Best Multi-Use Balms for Every Budget Tested from TikTok to Luxury Self Care

The Best Multi-Use Balms: Which One Should You Choose?

If I said the words “multi-use balm”, I’d bet your first thought is Vaseline. But there is now a whole category of products. This week, I’m taking a ten-hour transatlantic flight, so I put three to the test.

Budget-Friendly Multi-Use Balms

CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment, £11 for 50ml: The brand’s most requested product in the UK after going TikTok viral following its launch in the US, so I had high hopes. The formula is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores, as so many multi-purpose balms do, or cause spots, making any problems a whole lot worse. I was surprised by how easy it was to spread, so great for large areas. However, it is quite sticky at first, so keep that in mind if you are on the go. It is in my stash for emergencies – I don’t use it every day.

Mid-Range Multi-Use Balms

Mirror Water Rub Solid Balm, £30 For 50ml: This is the fanciest multi-use balm I’ve ever seen. It definitely feels much more like a luxury self-care product, rather than a “does-it-all” solution. Formulated with over 70 per cent shea butter, it smells delicious and melts really nicely into the skin. It has a dry oil finish, so leaves a nice shine, but it is not too greasy. I found it is brilliant for cuticles and dry areas on the body, especially straight out of the bath or shower when you are warm to the touch. But my skin is quite sensitive, so I wouldn’t use it on my face.

Luxury Multi-Use Balms

Dior Le Baume, £50 for 50ml: I really wanted to dislike this balm because of its high price tag, so I hate to admit that I thought this was amazing. It has much more of a cream formula, which means it is not sticky or greasy, but manages to hydrate just as well and really stick around for a long time. The case is by far the prettiest of those I tried and the subtle fragrance makes it safe for the face and body. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

Pick of the Week – Topicals Collection

I’VE followed Topicals on Instagram for years, while it was only available in the US. But, finally, it has landed at Sephora UK. The Like Butter Hydrating Moisturiser, £30, and Faded Brightening & Clearing Serum, £35, are currently on their way to my doorstep and I can’t wait for them to arrive. Stock up while you can, as the range is sure to sell out.
