Danny Masterson, Scientology Officer Saying She Committed No Crime. Avoid the Use of the Word ‘Rape’

On her second day of testimony Tuesday against Danny Masterson, Jane Doe 3 – the ex-long-term girlfriend of the “That 70s Show” star referred to in court as CB – started hyperventilating and struggling to breathe partway through the morning session in a what became a full-blown panic attack while talking about the influence of Scientology.

CB seemed very nervous and she was unable to look at Masterson, his family or friends. Masterson spent a lot of time looking directly at her.

She is one of four women who will be testifying that Masterson assaulted and abused them in the criminal case. Masterson, who was present in court daily with his wife Bijou Phillips and their family, has denied any wrongdoing. If convicted, Masterson faces up to 45-years to life imprisonment

CB later asked Phillip Cohen to cross-examine Masterson and asked him not to move towards Masterson.

“When you move to that side of the courtroom, I don’t want to look over there,”She asked him to stay behind her podium, directly in front of his face.

CB was a successful model who had moved to Los Angeles from Alabama, and was Masterson’s girlfriend for six years from 1999. Masterson was her 18th birthday. She is a non-scientist.

Witness testified that she went to talk with Miranda Scoggins, her Scientology ethics officer, in December 2001 after Masterson raped her. Masterson is not facing any charges in connection to the December 2001 incident.
A month prior, he was charged with forcible and sexual rape in an incident with CB.

CB testified during the December 2001 incident that she had been to dinner with Masterson at La Poubelle Bistro, Hollywood, and had had one to two glasses red wine. She said that she stood up to leave the restaurant and then fell asleep in his bed.

After going to the bathroom, she noticed a tiny amount of blood. Masterson answered her questions and told her what had happened.

Her testimony was continued with Scientology as her witness. Testifying she was traumatized by the fact that Masterson had had anal sex with her, which she believed was against Scientology’s beliefs, she reported it the following day to Miranda Scoggins and her husband Chris Scoggins, the chaplain at the Scientology Celebrity Centre.

Miranda Scoggins said that she hadn’t committed any crime and that Miranda had. “pulled it in”Scientology terminology meaning that you have done something in life or another to cause bad things to happen.

CB started hyperventilating when asked by the prosecutor to explain what Scoggins meant. “I understood that it almost put me in a state of terror and I just needed to do what I was told and not to tell anybody.”She also mentioned her fear of being declared an enemy. “suppressive person”Being cut off from church.

She cried, and she stated that she was worried. “it would destroy me … He [Chris Scoggins] scared me so much so I just did as I was told … I’m afraid I would not have survived [being declared a suppressive person] at that time.”

CB couldn’t breathe anymore and Judge Charlaine Olivera demanded a recess.

Masterson was formally charged in 2020, but allegations first came to light in 2017 when a blogger covering Scientologyreportedthat detectives were investigating the actor after three women came forward with accusations of rape and assault. Three women allege that Masterson came to their attention in the early 2000s via the Church of Scientology. Each woman has claimed that they were forced to remain silent by the Church.

When testimony resumed, CB’s breathing was still shallow and she spoke through tears about how Miranda Scoggins had her write a Knowledge Report about her “out ethics” behavior – things she had done wrong. Through deep breaths and trying to not cry, she said. “Miranda wanted me to write a ‘things that shouldn’t be report,’”However, Masterson would not have been called

The witness then testified that Miranda Scoggins helped her write up the report, detailing her and Masterson’s relationship and what happened but she had to remove H, E, and R (Human
Emotion and Reaction). We could not use this word. “rape.”

CB was required to go through a month-long program in ethics. This required her to take courses at the celebrity centre each day for the month of January 2002. She then asked Masterson if he was required to take the ethics courses and said he responded he didn’t because “he was fortunately prospering in life.”

She was asked to elaborate and explained that she had just read something called ‘Ethics Protection’ “that when
someone’s statistics are up in life, they are called upstats.”She replied that she was based on his answer.

She then called a rape hotline, where her views changed. “a crime had occurred,”This led her to report the incidents to the Austin Police Department, where she now resides.

The prosecutor asked her how she felt about reporting the incidents. She replied, “Terrified, because of Scientology. I was terrified.”

When asked if she still has fears or concerns, she replied, “Oh yeah.”She cried and said that she was harassed, stalked, and stalked after she reported the incidents to police. “up until this day.”
