Corey Hawkins Discusses Denzel Washington and The Tragedy of Macbeth’

Denzel Washington is actor Corey Hawkins’ legendary co-star. “The Tragedy of Macbeth.” “I love that I get to walk in his footsteps, but I know I can never fill that man’s shoes,”Hawkins speaks Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast. “To share space to sit down in his dressing room, and talk, pray, listen, talk sports, talk whatever – they say never to meet your heroes but to finally dispel that rumor because he is the greatest of all time.”

After numerous breakout performances in films like “Straight Outta Compton”And “BlacKkKlansman,” Hawkins takes on the classic role as Macduff, the foil to the titular character in writer and director Joel Coen’s new, monochrome adaptation of the William Shakespeare play. The film’s World Premiere was held at the New York Film Festival in September. It was shown at the Alice Tully Hall Theater. This is the main venue for Julliard School performances in New York City. Hawkins studied at Julliard and claims that going back to his roots to present his most memorable feature film was unusually cathartic.

Hawkins, 33, is positioned opposite Washington, a two-time Oscar-winner and four-time winner Frances McDormand. She takes on the role of moral figure with a fury and passion. Along with Kathryn Hunter and Moses Ingram, she manages to create many standout moments.

Hawkins’s cinematic year has been a success, with his performance as Benny the Tony-winning musical on big-screen “In the Heights”Jon M. Chu. Hawkins already has two nominations for the SAG Award for her participation in the ensembles of “Straight Outta Compton”And “BlacKkKlansman.”He has also been nominated for a Tony Award for best actor in play for his performance as Paul in Stage Production of 2017. “Six Degrees of Separation.”

Hawkins’ next act is Harpo in the musical version of “The Color Purple”Director Blitz Bazawule. He also has an unidentified role in the film. “Last Voyage of the Demeter” from André Øvredal, based on a single chapter from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel “Dracula.”

“The Tragedy of Macbeth”It will have a limited release in theaters Dec. 25, and then streaming on Apple TV Plus Jan. 14, 2022.
