Investigators are also hoping to use open source social media to help identify the mystery woman.

According to sources, her accent drifts between “professional English” and Eastern European – making it nearly impossible to establish her nationality.

There has not been a positive identification.

A fisherman saw the woman in her 60s and ran to rescue her.

A team of 14 people had to use 4x4s to cross the jagged rocks of Croatian island.

The blonde woman claimed she did not know how she got to this place.

She was without papers, a phone or passport and was also dehydrated.

Experts claimed that she survived for several nights, despite the bears living nearby.

Officials in Rijeka reported that she was so weak that she couldn’t even drink water.

The woman, who is 5ft 4in tall with shoulder-length hair, was still being treated at the hospital.

ISLAND MYSTERY

A local told news site 24Sata: “It’s weird that she was looking in the area at all. It is an extremely inaccessible part of the bay with terribly sharp rocks — literally razors that cut the rubber on your shoes.

“There is no life or animals except maybe wild boars or bears which know how to swim to here in search of food, but this is a rarity because there is no food, nothing.

“A woman that age certainly could not swim that distance, it needs exceptional strength.”

The isle of Krk covers 157 square miles and has a population of around 17,000.

It is connected to mainland via a bridge. It is the largest Adriatic island.

The Piano Man, a nickname for a man who wore a dripping-wet suit with a tie, was found on Sheppey in Kent in 2005.

He was silent for weeks before being taken to a nursing home, where he made a grand-piano.

He was later identified as farmer’s son Andreas Grassl, 27, and was returned to his family in Bavaria, Germany.

Anyone who recognises the woman is asked to contact Ksk Police Station via [email protected].
