Fox News Channel was, unsurprisingly, first among all 25-54 demos and total viewers.
MSNBC is now ahead of CNN in total views for the 18th consecutive monthly month, but CNN continues its dominance of the 25-54 age group.
MSNBC was ranked second overall among cable channels for both primetime viewing and total day for the month July. According to Nielsen data, the network averaged 1.3 million viewers in primetime but only 765,000 viewers total for total day.

That’s compared to the 731,000 total viewers that CNN averaged during primetime (which brought it to eighth among the cable channels). CNN was fourth overall, with an average of 541,000 viewers per day.
Despite lower total viewership, CNN is still faring better than MSNBC among the key news demo — though neither channel is doing particularly well. CNN was 14th in the demo for the month July with 159,000 viewers on average. CNN only managed to reach 110,000 viewers in the demo (11th overall)
With an average of 133,000 viewers, MSNBC was 21st among primetime demos. With 84,000 viewers, it came in 20th place in total demo day.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Fox News Channel beat MSNBC and CNN to be the most-watched cable news channel for July, both in key demos and total viewers.
FNC was watched by an average of 2.21 million people during primetime. It was also the only cable channel that cracked the seven-figure mark for total-day viewers with an average audience of 1.4 million. FNC averaged 292,000 total viewers in primetime, and 194,000 during the entire day.
Weekday programming “Tucker Carlson Tonight”The demo was dominated by a total of 482,000 viewers. “The Five” remains the most popular cable show overall with 3.2 million average viewers (barely edging out Carlson’s 3.1 million for the top spot).
Only one non FNC show ranked in the top 16 among the cable channels in this key demo. That was “The Rachel Maddow Show,”This was the No. 8 with 230,000 viewers in the demo and 2.4 million overall.
