Clayton Kershaw Approached by Boy At A Press Conference To Honor Grandpa

“Baseball is a game for fathers and sons,”Once, someone said.

Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers pitcher was reminded of this tonight by a member the media who told him. “Clayton, I think there’s a kid who’s trying to ask you [something].”

“Oh, dude, sorry,”Kershaw spoke as Blake Grice, a 10-year-old boy approached him. “Whatcha got?”

Grice, who according to Fox11’s Geraud Moncuré, got into the press conference because he “has a media Instragram,”He approached the Dodgers legend, and he told him a story of his grandfather Graham, who died seven years earlier from brain cancer.

Grice shared his story with Kershaw in front of the media. He said that his grandpa died from cancer and that he had made a list of all the things he wanted to do once he beat it.

Kershaw was also part of the list. Graham died a week later than they had written the list. Grice explained to Kershaw that Graham’s family has tried to complete the entire list since then.

“My grandpa loved you,”Blake said it to Kershaw, as he tried to hold back his tears. “He watched the 1988 [World] Series and he wanted to meet you and Vin Scully one day. So this moment is important to me because I’m meeting you for him.”

At that point Kershaw — who has four children, three of them boys — came out from behind the podium and said, “Come here, dude, great to meet you,”Grice was given a hug during this gesture. “Thanks for telling me. That took a lot of courage to tell me that. Great to meet you. Your granddad sounded like an awesome guy. Thanks for coming up.”

After having a good conversation and taking a photo, Grice gave Kershaw an enormous hug before running back to his father who was waiting in the back.
