Check to make sure you’re cooking your chicken properly

Before Labor Day Weekend cookouts – some people are on board. Social media Many people are anxious about the preparation of chicken.

“I would rather just about burn it to make sure it’s cooked,” one person said in a TikTok video.

TikTok has seen 23,000,000 views of the hashtag “Chicken Anxiety”.

Inside Edition spoke to Michelle Doll Olsen, head chef of Hello Fresh. She helped calm nerves.

“Of all the proteins, chicken is the one you have to take the most seriously,” Doll-Olsen says. “You can only kill salmonella if it reaches 165 degrees. There is no medium rare for chicken.”

Doll Olsen demonstrated to Inside Edition the two best ways you can ensure your chicken will be perfect for this weekend’s holiday.

“A thermometer is really the only fool-proof way to make sure you hit 165. Otherwise I would recommend slicing into the thickest part of one of the chicken breasts to see that it’s cooked through,” the chef says.

Doll-Olsen suggests preheating the grill for 10-15 minutes, and then cooking each side of the breasts for 5 to 7 minutes.

In a recent survey, it was found that behind hamburgers and hotdogs, the most popular foods to grill for Labor Day are chickens.
