The Bachelorette: Is it real?

The Bachelorette, for the most part is real. However, former contestants provide insight on some of its scripted parts.

Bachelor and Bachelorette contracts allegedly state that contestants must “follow all of Producer’s rules, directions and instructions in all matters, including Participant selection.”

Sean Lowe, former Bachelor, revealed in his memoir For the Right Reasons that he recorded some of his confessionals several weeks before dates.

I’d say things like, ‘I’m having a blast with Des tonight, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.’ It wasn’t disingenuous, because I expressed what my true feelings were at the time. Mainly, it was boring.”

The footage has been edited into a story, even though the show does not follow a script.

Luke Stone was a Bachelor in Paradise contestant who claimed that the producers edited episode footage to make it look as though he’d been rejected.
