Can Vecna control Mind Flayers Stranger Things explained

With each season, the villainous monsters Eleven and her gang had to confront in Stranger Things have become more terrifying and deadly.

The Demogorgon was the first season in which the gang faced off against it. Things got worse with the introduction of the Mind Flayer in season 2. Recent additions include the ‘party’In season 4, Vecna was defeated.

However, while the gang initially suspect that Vecna may be another creature under the control of the Mind Flayer in Stranger Things season 4, their theory couldn’t be further from the truth.

Vecna’s origins in Stranger Things 4

Vecna is the latest threat in Stranger Things season 4. The mutilated creature doesn’t waste time in introducing itself. At the end of episode 1 he begins to murder Chrissy Cunningham.

As the season progresses, Vecna’s killing spree continues with him targeting fellow troubled teens Fred Benson and Patrick McKinney. He then turned his attention to Max Mayfield but was rebuffed later by the Hawkins gang.

Throughout volume 1 of season 4, the kids attempt to uncover more about the creature’s origins. They look at the tragic past of Creel families.

However, it’s not revealed until episode 7 that Vecna’s links to the Creel family are much closer than the gang first thought as he was once the son of the family, Henry Creel.

Eleven goes back to Dr. Brenner to regain her powers. She learns from flashbacks that Peter Ballard, the Hawkins Lab orderly, is actually Henry Creel. He was responsible for the massacre at the laboratory.

Henry, also known as One due to being Brenner’s first subject, had wanted Eleven to join him in his plan to destroy humanity. When she refused, he attacked them.

Eleven banished Henry Creel from the Upside Down after the confrontation between them. Over the years, he became the twisted and mutilated Vecna.

Vecna is the creator of the Mind Flayer

It’s revealed in the final episode of Stranger Things 4 Vecna was responsible for the creation of the Mind Flayer. This is the monster that the gang encountered in season 2 and 3.

Vecna describes his isolation in the Upside Down to Eleven in episode 9. He shared how he discovered several creatures in this new universe, including the Demogorgon.

Vecna also discovers a large, pulsating cloud made up of Upside Down particle in the sky. Vecna uses his powers to transform the dark cloud into the Mind Flayer.

At the same moment, we see a flashback from Vecna’s childhood as Henry Creel in which he draws an image of the same monster, showing he’s always been destined to rain destruction on Hawkins.

Is Vecna able to control the Mind Flayers?

Yes, Vecna does control the Mind Flayer and every creature we’ve seen emerge from the Upside Down for good measure.

This is because the Mind Flayer’s Mind Flayer particles were manipulated by Vecna to create a huge hive brain. It is able to control all monsters in the Upside Down, including the Demogorgons, Demodogs, and the Demobats.

Vecna used his power to transform the Mind Flayer particles into a shape that allowed him to take control of the huge creature and its hive mind.

This revelation also confirms Vecna’s secretive role in the Upside Down, which allowed the Mind Flayers and Demogorgons into our world.

Vecna was sent to the Upside Down after Eleven’s defeat. He knew that he needed to rest and recover to be able to grow stronger.
