Camp Cretaceous Season 5: The End

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Camp Cretaceous season 5 and Jurassic World Dominion*

Alongside the main Jurassic World films, Netflix’s animated Camp Cretaceous series has provided viewers with plenty of dinosaur thrills since it began and has also connected some of the dots between the movies in the latest trilogy.

Fans were left with a painful cliffhanger at the end of season 4, but the series returned in July 2022 for the highly anticipated fifth season. It will continue the story of the beloved gang of misfits.

The ending of Camp Cretaceous season 5, however, has many twists and turns on its own. This must be explained.

Camp Cretaceous Season 5 plot preview

On Thursday, July 21st 2022, Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous was uploaded to Netflix.

The new season picks up from the season 4 cliffhanger with the gang surrounded and captured by Mantah Corp’s BRAD robots and the company’s president, Daniel Kon – Kenji’s father.

Daniel is initially friendly towards the kids but it’s quickly revealed that he has ulterior motives and threatens friendly Mantah Corp scientist Mae, warning her that if she doesn’t help him, he’ll hurt the kids.

Daniel plans to sell controllable dinosaurs using the control chips Mantah Corp developed on the island. Most potential buyers leave, but BioSyn, a corporation, agrees to place an Order for the Control Chips once they are fully developed.

The gang have become sympathetic to the dinosaurs despite being almost eaten multiple times. They are now against the plan and work to stop Mr Kon.

After being given the opportunity to reunite his father, Kenji decides to turn his back on the group as well as Brooklynn, his love interest.

Camp Cretaceous Season 5: The End

As the cruel nature of Daniel Kon’s plan becomes clear, Kenji starts to have doubts about his allegiance to his father.

In order to fulfil the order of control chips placed by BioSyn, Daniel brings a number of dinosaurs over to the island from Isla Nublar to experiment on, including the gang’s Ankylosaurus companion, Bumpy.

Kenji realizes this is too much for him and starts to work against his father to stop the ability to make more chips using a password.

Kenji eventually reunites with the gang on Mantah Corp’s island and after some initial hostility, they take him back when he apologises for betraying them.

Kenji was away so Yaz and Sammy shared their feelings and became a married couple. This earned the approval of Ben and Darius, Brooklynn.

However, all is not well on the island as the facility’s power core is on the verge of overloading, which has been causing earthquakes and releasing poisonous gas into the air.

But the gang uses this to their advantage and in the final confrontation, they stage a fake core overload by triggering the alarm and using knockout gas to replicate the poison which results in Daniel fleeing the island – although not before Kenji gave him the password to create more chips.

Despite Mr Kon getting away, the dinosaurs on Mantah Corp’s island are now safe and after being stranded since the fall of Jurassic World, the gang are finally rescued when Darius’s older brother, Brandon, as well as Roxie and Dave, arrive on the scene with some help from Mae.

Episode 12 ends with a jump in time. The gang is all over the place, but they remain in contact via video calls.

Kenji is now living with Darius and his brother, Yaz and Sammy are still together, Ben is back on the island with Mae and Bumpy, and Brooklynn has been investigating a dinosaur escape at the Lockwood Estate – referencing the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and how the dinosaurs found their way into the real world.

Links to Jurassic World Dominion

Season 5 of Camp Cretaceous wraps up the story about the Nublar Six as they are known. It also contains links to Jurassic World Dominion (the final film in the Jurassic World trilogy).

These links center on BioSyn, the corporation, and Lewis Dodgson, their CEO.

In Camp Cretaceous, Dodgson and BioSyn place an order for Mantah Corp’s control chips which would later be used in Dominion to control the dinosaurs being kept at BioSyn’s sanctuary in the Dolomite mountains.

Not only are BioSyn featured in season 5, but Lewis Dodgson makes an appearance himself, arriving on Mantah Corp’s island in episode 6 to personally negotiate with Daniel Kon.

Dodgson travels with Daniel and Kenji to Isla Nublar to supervise the experimentation of control chips.

While on Isla Nublar, Dodgson discovers Dennis Nedry’s Barbasol can from the first Jurassic Park film, that he was going to use to smuggle dinosaur embryos off the island before he was killed by a Dilophosaurus.

Dodgson even gets chased by the same dinosaurs.

Both the Barbasol can and the Dilophosaurus are links to Dominion as Dodgson is seen possessing the can in the film and is also killed by the venom-spitting dinosaurs in the movie’s finale.

Season 5 of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous can be streamed now Netflix After releasing July 21, 2022.
