The title of Queen Consort is given to the wife of a ruling king and was assigned to Camilla when the Queen passed away.

Aides are trying to change the name of King Charles to Queen Camilla before the coronation. The Telegraph reports.

In modern history, consorts of the past have been called the title of “Queen” and their Christian name. This includes the Queen Mother, who was called Queen Elizabeth.

Camilla assumed the title of Queen Consort to show respect for some of her opinions regarding marriage into the Royal Family.

The King and Queen Consort, however, are “very relaxed”It is understood that she would be called Queen Camilla by the media and the public.

Before the coronation, the Palace is expected to assess the appropriateness and accept ‘Queen Camilla” before adopting it formaly.

Camilla will continue to be called Queen Consort in formal communications. But, it is understood that the King wishes to give his wife the same respect as his grandmother.

After Elizabeth II’s address earlier in the year, when she said it was her, the title was settled. “sincere wish” that Camilla be known as Queen Consort when she dies.

Central Recorder has reached out to Buckingham Palace to obtain comment.

Who was a Queen Consort before?

Queen Elizabeth was consort to King George VI until his death in 1952, ruling for 16 years.

The majority of her life was spent as the Queen Mother to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, until her death at the age of 101.

Queen Mary was beside her husband, King George V, for 26 years before he died in January 1936, after becoming Queen Consort in 1910.

She held the title of Queen Mother to King George VI after the abdication of King Edward VIII in December 1936.

Queen Charlotte reigns longest as Queen Consort.

She held the title of Queen Consort for 57 years, ending in 1818.

Queen Charlotte, an amateur botanist, was most notable. She helped to expand Kew Gardens as well as bring Christmas trees to the UK.
