The NHS will invite all Brits between 18 and 39 to come forward.

Individuals who are already eligible, i.e. those over 40 years old, will be able use the national booking system and won’t have to wait for contact from the NHS.

Three cases of the new Omicron variant had already been identified in England – although officials fear that means hundreds could already be infected.

According to Government sources, there are currently more than 150 infections in the UK.

UK labs are said be investigating 225 possible mutant variants.

According to the Scottish Government, four of the Covid-19 Omicron variants cases in Scotland were found in the Lanarkshire region. Two are located in the Greater Glasgow or Clyde areas.

It reached the UK in less than one week, just weeks after it was reported in Africa as a concern.

The government claims they will not be left behind in their fight against the variant due to the increasing number of cases.

Are I eligible to receive a booster?

All Brits 18 to 39 years old can now apply for their booster, as announced by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.

However, they won’t be able have it for less than three months following their second dose.

If you are not eligible, the NHS will notify you to let you know when you can come forward for your jab.

This comes only weeks after the booster campaign was extended for Brits over 40 in an effort to boost immunity before the festive season.

Experts believe that the UK will be able to cut the time between the first and third doses of the jab, which is currently six to three months, to allow it to take advantage of the Covid variant.

Kids aged 12 to 15 will also be offered a second dose of the vaccine, in an attempt to shore up the nation’s immunity in the face of worrying new strain.

June Rainer, chief of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, (MHRA), urged people this afternoon to book in for their jabs.

Vulnerable Brits such as those at risk for Covid will still receive the jabs in top priority.

This could lead to the fact that the younger Brits won’t get a boost until January in order help the most vulnerable.

Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, called for scientists to accelerate booster jab rollouts for under-40s in Omicron concerns.

How to book your booster

To secure your coronavirus booster slots, you can use the national reservation service.

The month began with those who are eligible being told they could book their slots one month in advance and they could walk into the centres.

Professor Jonathan Van Tam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, stated that the NHS is ready for any challenge when it comes time to deliver booster vaccines.

However, he did say that those who were younger or less vulnerable would be more at the back of his line for the jab.

The NHS is expected to release guidance on booking booster jabs in the coming days.

You can also go online to the dedicated website if you are already eligible.NHS booking site.

When you book your jab, you’ll only need to select a time and day for one slot – unlike booking the first and second dose when you were asked to book them both at once.

It is best to wait at least 4 weeks after you have suffered from coronavirus.

You will then be asked if your NHS number is known.
