We’re all still getting over series 2 of Bridgerton, but filming for series 3 has already begun and Penelope’s glow-up is in full swing.
The cast of Netflix’s raunchy Regency series Bridgerton take it in turns to do the finger-switch gesture from the series 2 finale. One by one, two fingers become three and it’s confirmed: series 3 has begun filming. If that wasn’t exciting enough, the last clip shows Colin (Luke Newton) stepping into Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) carriage. And if you’ve read the books, you’ll know what awaits.
What is transformation?
Well, it wouldn’t be a new series of Bridgeton without some sort of glow-up, would it? Everybody was quick to notice Anthony’s glow-up from series 1 to 2 (Sideburns very gladly gone!). Now, it’s not only Colin’s turn but Penelope’s too. And people have noticed already…

Another successful Bridgerton transformation! It’s amazing what better wigs, a bit of a tan, and an absence of *yellow* can do for a gal.
Bridgerton series 3: What should you expect
Though some fans were eager for series 3 to be about Benedict (Luke Thompson), just as the third book is, Lady Whistledown took to Twitter to confirm that, actually, Penelope and Colin would be this season’s diamonds.
The first two series teased the possibility. ‘budding relationship’We couldn’t wait any longer for the two of them, so we didn’t have to wait. Both taking the sidelines in favour of the older Bridgerton siblings and their friends, now, it’s their time to shine.
Many fans would have noticed the absence of a certain Duke in series 2, and unfortunately, he won’t be returning in series 3 either. But, Kate (Simone Ashley), our new Viscountess has confirmed that her husband will be joining her in the new series. Kanthony content. We truly are royally blessed.
All the Bridgerton family are expected to return, with Hannah Dodd replacing Ruby Stokes as Francesca because of filming conflicts.
With the season 2 finale seeing Eloise’s love life go from bad to worse, it’s fairly certain that we’ll see more from her and Theo in this series too.
Is there a release date?
There’s no official release date for Bridgerton series 3, but series 2 came out a little over a year after the first – and that was with Covid complications too. So, no one can say for sure – but we can hoepfully expect it around Spring 2023.
A year may seem like a long time, but that’s fairly quick compared to other Netflix shows’ turnaround (*cough* Stranger Things). No doubt, it’ll be worth the wait to see our favourite Featherington get her happy ending.
