As suicide bombers strike the Ugandan capital, there are at least three deaths and more than thirty injuries

Tuesday saw the attack of suicide bombers on Kampala by Ugandan terrorists, resulting in the deaths of at least three people and more than 30 injuries. BBC reported. Officials predict that the death toll will rise.

BBC reported that three motorcycle-riding bombers attacked Parliament and the Police Headquarters, setting off panic and terror across the streets.

“So far 33 are injured and five are critically injured,”Fred Enanga, spokesperson for police, said this at a press conference Tuesday.

Around 10 a.m. the explosions occurred within minutes of each another. CNN reported.

BBC reported that officials blamed the attack on the armed group called the Allied Democratic Forces, which is based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Officials stated that bombs were also found in other parts.

“The bomb threats are still active, especially from suicide attackers,” Enanga said. “We believe there are still more members of these domestic terror cells, especially the suicide bomb squad that has been created by the ADF.”

Police said that a fourth bomber was taken into custody and that an explosive vest was also recovered.

Minister of Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance & MP, Kinkizi East Constituency, Kanungu District Dr. Chris Baryomunsi tweeted for Ugandans to not panic but remain vigilant.

“Ugandans should not panic because of the cowardly acts of the terrorists who are throwing bombs in Kampala. Their intention is to cause scare in the population. Our Security and intelligence teams are doing everything to ensure normalcy but let’s all keep vigilant,”He wrote it on Twitter.

Kabbyanga State Minister Baluku Kiime also tweeted warning signals for citizens to watch out for to help identify a bomber in the wake of recent attacks.

“You are the first line of security. Let’s be more vigilant and aware of our surroundings. Together we can defeat the enemy,”He wrote.
