Andrea Cifuentes, a teenage triple jumper, became viral online after her first appearance in Jerusalem. Here’s what we know about the budding athlete.

Who is Andrea Cifuentes

Andrea Cifuentes was 16 years old when she was born December 22, 2005. She represents Spain and made her international athletics debut in this year’s European U18 Championships in Jerusalem. Cifuentes competes in triple jump and long jump.

At the time of writing, Cifuentes is ranked just outside the world’s top 400 for women’s triple jump. Her ranking in the women’s long jump is a lot lower, just inside the world’s top 950.

Overstepping was a disqualification in her first attempt at the triple leap. She jumped 12.30m (about 40ft), to finish sixth.

The spring-heeled Spaniard should be a sight to behold

Andrea Cifuentes, a spanish athlete, was first noticed by Spanish athletics fans after she won the triple-jump final at the Reunion FAM meeting in Jan 2020 with a jump of 11.59m. She was only 14 years old.

In 2021, Andrea took part in five events – three triple jump competitions and two in long jump – and never finished outside the top three. She won two of three triple jump events.

Cifuentes is still a standout in 2022. She won triple jump in the Spanish U18 Championships, Jerez de La Frontera on June 19. In March, she had finished second in the Spanish U18 Independent Championships, which took place in the Velódromo Luis Puig, Valencia.

Andrea also placed second in triple jump at Guadalajara’s competition. She also won the long jump event in Madrid, with a leap height of 5.76m.

Andrea is expected to compete more on the international stage in 2023.
