Your jeans and trainers may be what decides whether you are bumped up to First Class.
According to One Flight Attendant, “Who, What, Wear?” Travel + Leisure: “Smart and understated. It helps to look like you are traveling often.
“Someone who is potentially due to get an upgrade can be knocked back if they aren’t dressed suitably.”
A second flight attendant was added: “No jeans or trainers — so I always go for tight black trousers and a blazer or a dress. For men, chinos or trousers and a shirt are worn.”
You should also avoid dirty shoes, leggings, and flip flops.
You may be the first to get bumped into first class if you comply with all rules.
Simon J Marton, a former British Airways flight attendant, stated previously: “Dress smartly – it does no harm. If you look like you could be dressed appropriately for an upgrade, then you stand a better chance in that regard than someone in casual attire.”
You don’t have to be first-class if you don’t get in.

They said: “I was travelling long haul in economy from Tokyo to London, and my partner and I fell asleep as the flight was taking off – missing the first of two scheduled meals.
“When we woke up, we were ravenous – but told all the trolley food was sold out. Plus, the food serving limitations made it impossible to eat any of the economy food.
According to the traveller, all they had done was ask and were served food from first and business class.
