Alec Baldwin Hires a L.A. Attorney to ‘Rust” Civil Suits

Alec Baldwin engaged former Assistant U.S. attorney Aaron S. Dyer, Pillsbury Winthrop Shi Pittman to handle civil lawsuits related to the allegations. “Rust” shooting, Varietyconfirm. Dyer, a Los Angeles-based representative of Baldwin, Rust Movie Pictures and other production companies involved with the film.

Baldwin, who was both star in and producer on the independent Western movie “Rust,”Halyna HUTCHINS, a cinematographer who was shot to death by a gun in a prop, was killed on October 21st near Santa Fe, N.M. Hutchins was killed by the gun’s at least one live cartridge, and Joel Souza was also injured.

Two lawsuits have been filed so far — one by script supervisor Mamie Mitchell, who said she suffered “physical and emotional injuries” when Baldwin shot the film’s cinematographer. The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, names several crew members in addition to Baldwin and the film’s producers.

Serge Svetnoy was also a Gaffer and filed a claim alleging that he was within close proximity of Baldwin at the time the shot was fired, causing him emotional and physical harm.

Hutchins’ family, however, has not yet filed a lawsuit. Her husband and son’s attorney, Brian Panish of Panish, Shea, Boyle and Ravipudi, told the Daily Journal legal publicationThe family was still in shock and that the firm was conducting an inquiry. “intensive investigation of the facts,”Interviewing witnesses, meeting with law enforcement and the district attorney.

Dyer defended previously “Girls Gone Wild”Joe Francis was charged with racketeering, child pornography and racketeering. Buzz Aldrin was also indicted. Aldrin punched a conspiracy theorist, who claimed that the moon landing was fake. Aldrin wasn’t charged.

Baldwin was not charged criminally for the shooting.
