Ahsoka episode 1 cast – meet the stars of Master and Apprentice

Ahsoka is finally available on Disney+, and episode one features a cast that includes many familiar and new faces.

*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Ahsoka episode 1* —After months of anticipation, the long-awaited Ahsoka series has finally arrived on Disney+ and it’s proved a real treat for Star Wars Rebels fans as a number of characters from the animated series have made the leap into the show’s live-action cast.

In the US, Disney+ released two Ahsoka episodes on August 22, 2023.

In the episode Master and apprentice, Baylan and Shin Hati introduced themselves as the evil villains who took Morgan Elsbeth from New Republic custody and began searching for Grand Adm. Thrawn after his disappearance during Star Wars Rebels.

Ahsoka is in a race with Dark Jedis. She beats them to a map of the Grand Admiral’s location and that of Ezra Bridger the exiled young Jedi who went missing along with him.

Shin Hati ambushes Sabine Wren after she takes the star map. Shin Hati steals it and leaves her for dead.

Ahsoka’s episode 1 cast is a mixture of both new and old characters. While some original voice actors reprise their animated roles, others are recast.

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano

Once Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan, Ahsoka Tano left the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars and now wanders the galaxy as the Star Wars equivalent of a samurai.

Rosario Dawson, who played the original live-action Ahsoka character in The Mandalorian & The Book of Boba Fett following a Lucasfilm fan cast campaign.

You may know her as the star of Men in Black II and other films such as Sin City and Rent.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren, a fiery Mandalorian who loves art and was part of Star Wars Rebels’ Ghost crew, is an edgy Mandalorian.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo, an Australian actress who has replaced voice actress Tiya Sicar in the role of Tiya is taking on this new challenge. Bordizzo is known to fans for her work in Day Shift and other films such as Guns Akimbo Hotel Mumbai Crouching Dragon Hidden Dragon Sword of Destiny The Greatest Showman, The Society, The Voyeurs.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Hera Syndulla

Hera syndulla, who began her Star Wars career as the Ghost captain in Star Wars Rebels rose to general status during the Galactic Civil War.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead replaces Vanessa Marshall as Hera, and follows in the footsteps her husband Ewan MacGregor who portrays Obi-Wan Kenobi.

If she is not dressed in green as Ahsoka for Scott Pilgrim, you may remember her from Passions, Sky High Death Proof, Swiss Army Man 10 Cloverfield Lane TV series, Birds of Prey, Scott Pilgrim and the World.

Ray Stevenson, Baylan Skoll

Ray Stevenson, who died in 2004, appears as Baylan Skoll, a former Jedi working as a Force wielding mercenary.

Before his sudden death in May, Stevenson appeared in over 60 roles, with notable appearances coming in RRR, Vikings, Marvel’s Thor movies, HBO’s Rome and also the Star Wars animated shows The Clone Wars and Rebels where he voiced Gar Saxon.

Ivanna Sakhno Shin Hati

Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno plays Baylan’s apprentice, Shin Hati, a fearsome warrior who already looks set for a rivalry with Sabine throughout the series.

Sakhno has appeared in numerous Ukrainian productions before Ahsoka. These include The Reunion (also known as The Reunion), High Fidelity (also known as The Spy who Dumped Me), Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Diana Lee Inosanto, Morgan Elsbeth

Diana Lee Inosanto is back in the Star Wars galaxy, after Imperial magistrate Morgan Elsbeth first appeared in The Mandalorian.

Inosanto is a veteran of almost 20 roles, with appearances in 1998’s Blade, 2002’s The Time Machine, The Prodigy, Hope: The Last Paladin and The Last Tour.

David Tennant in Huyang

David Tennant, who voices Huyang the Huyang droid in Star Wars, is among several actors to reprise a Star Wars role.

Tennant is obviously best known for his now two stints as the Doctor in Doctor Who while he’s also appeared in Broadchurch, Good Omens, Staged, Jessica Jones, There She Goes, Inside Man and Around the World in 80 Days.

Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger

Eman Emanesfandi will have to step into big shoes in Ahsoka, as the character of Ezra Bridger the young Jedi has disappeared since the last episode of Star Wars Rebels.

Esfandi has just over 15 roles to his name as things stand, with his most notable credit coming in King Richard while he’s also appeared in The Inspection, Austin Weird, Phaedra and Red 11.

Clancy Brown, Governor Ryder Azadi

Clancy Brown, another Star Wars Rebels actor reprises his role as Governor Ryder Azadi in live action.

The veteran actor is known for more than 300 roles, including those in Billions and John Wick 4. He also played Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as well as Mr Krabs on SpongeBob SquarePants.

Mark Rolston, Captain Hayle

The first character to appear in Ahsoka was Captain Hayle, the New Republic ship that Baylan and Shin attacked.

Playing the character, albeit briefly, is Mark Rolston who has previously appeared in The Shawshank Redemption, Aliens, Rush Hour, The Departed, Bosch, 2018’s Spider-Man game, Fallout 4, and many more as he has over 180 roles to his name.

Matthew Law as Captain Porter

Captain Porter is another notable character in the first episode. He’s an E-Wing Pilot who tries to find Sabine.

Fans of The Oval, The Payne or Agents of SHIELD may recognize actor Matthew Law beneath his pilot’s helmet.

Vinny as Jai Kell Senator

Vinny Thomsen plays Jai Kell in Ahsoka, a character from the Rebels.

Thomas is known for his role as Ahsoka, but he has also appeared on Platonic. He’s also been in a variety of shorts films.

Ahsoka is Available to stream Disney+’s first two episodes will be released in the US Tuesday, 22 August 2023.
