Daniel Kaluuya has gone from one Marvel world in Wakanda to another in Sony’s Spider-Verse.
The “Nope” star will join Sony Pictures’ animation film, sequel to the 2018 “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,”Hobart’s voice “Hobie” Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk.
The second film will follow Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), who has taken on the mantle of Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, as he reunites with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) to navigate the complicated web of the multiverse in the shadow of a new villain and team of Spider-People.
The film’s directors are Justin K. Thompson and Joaquim Santos. It will be in theaters June 2, 2023. Producers include Avi Arad and Amy Pascal, Phil Lord as well as Chris Miller, Chris Miller, Christina Steinberg, and Chris Miller. Along with David Callaham, Lord and Miller will be acknowledged as the film’s writers.
Other voices cast in the sequel film will include Oscaar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara — or Spider-Man 2099, Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’ father Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mother Rio Morales, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew or Spider-Woman, Jorma Taccone as Viltire, Rachel Dratch, Jason Schwartzman as Spot, Shea Whigham and Greta Lee.
The spin-off sequel has a June 2, 2023 release date. The release date for the third installment is set at March 29, 2024.
Kaluuya, whose most recent appearance occurred in Jordan Peele’s third horror film “Nope”Along with Keke Palmer (2022), they won the Oscar for Best Supporting actor in “Judas and the Black Messiah.” His performance in Peele’s “Get Out,”He was officially placed on the map.
