A WOMAN explains what she does. “won the seat reclining war”During a flight, follow an annoyed passenger behind you.
Rachel Thomas, a Wellington native, shared her secrets during a long haul flight from New Zealand to Europe.
She said that despite the overnight flight lasting 12 hours, she still had problems reclining her seat in relation to other passengers.
She wrote the following: Stuff.nz:
“The passenger behind me was un-reclining my seat.”
She turned her back to see a woman in early 50s. “no more than 1.6m tall”.
Rachel was also seated behind her, with her knees pressing against the seat back. She refused to move them when Rachel asked.
They continued to argue with the stranger telling Rachel that Rachel was his. “only meant to recline when she was sleeping”Rachel replied that she couldn’t do it because of her knees.
The other woman claimed she couldn’t hear Rachel and she told the flight attendant.
Rachel explained that a flight attendant appeared to have an almost identical, but polite, conversation with Rachel. “seat-ramming”This is against the law.
“Eventually the flight attendant moved her to the back of the plane, apologised profusely to me, then moved me to premium economy, saying ‘I think she might strangle you’.”
It was bizarre that it also happened on Rachel’s return flight – where another lady claimed she saw her. “almost broke her neck “When she reclined in her seat.
However, there were a lot of opinions in the comments.
One person said: “When you pay for your seat you are buying the space you recline into, it isn’t the person behind’s space.”
But, another person disagreed, saying: “I’m tall, but I never put my seat in recline as I think it unfair on the passenger behind. Airlines should remove that function.”
Many people debate the effects of seat recliner on flights.
Man was known as a “jerk”To recline his seat during long-haul flight.
A second woman stated that she had an experience with the same. “evil”Stop people from lying down.
