The Wheel of Time Season 1 Finale: A Quick Recap

Rand’s stories and visions for the future are taking hold.

Wheel of Time’s season one finale begins with a 3000 year old flashback, when Latra and Lews discuss the Aes Sedai and their future. Latra tells Lews that his plan of imprisoning the Dark One will be more dangerous than expected. However, when the camera moves away we discover that Lews is actually the Dragon Reborn.

Rand, taking a short break while being guided by Moiraine to the Blight to discover what the Blight is all about, has a bad nightmare. He’s about to explain it when Moraine is stabbed back in the ribs by the Dark One. He tells Rand that his biological father has been dead for years, but Rand again wakes up – it was a dream within a dream.

Moiraine gives Rand a sa’angreal in the hope that it will enhance his power but at the Eye, Rand sees a vision of the future where he and Egwene settle down to start a family. The Dark One hints that this future will come to pass if Rand gives up his power to the Shadow and in a shock twist, it’s Moiraine’s connection to the One Power that is severed.

Trollocs are defeated in a hurried battle

Agelmar, meanwhile, prepares himself to fight the Dark One.

Nyn, Egwene and the other Channelers join them. The five women work together to defeat the Trollocs in a single powerful explosion. However, their energy is so strong that three of them die instantly.

Egwene is the only one who survives relatively unharmed. She uses what strength she has left to save Nyn from death.

Perrin has joined Loial in the chamber located above the Horn of Valere. Padan Fain make their move at this time, killing Loial, and taking the Horn while Perrin looks on helplessly.

Rand continues the saga as he goes into hiding

Rand delivers an emotional speech in which he talks about the women he loves, and how the world is now, after the seven previous episodes. Using the power of the sa’angreal as a catalyst, Rand is able to defeat the Dark One who seemingly disintegrates after the attack.

Rand has given him too much power and Rand decides that it is better to go. He fears that his mind will be ruined if he remains with Moiraine for much longer.

Lan, just as Moiraine is about to be injured, finds him and tells her that this battle was only the beginning of their many.

Wheel of Time’s season 1 ends with an image of the Western coast. A little girl is playing on the sandy beach as an enormous fleet of battleships arrives on the horizon, their Channelers creating a large tidal wave that crashes into the shore…and the girl standing on the beach.

Wheel of Time Season 2 is now available. scheduled The Amazon Prime Video platform will premiere the film around the globe on September 1.
