A new Stephen King TV series is in the works, and already has an amazing star attached

The works of Stephen King have always had a strong relationship with the miniseries format television. The second ever King adaptation was made in the format – Tobe Hooper’s Salem’s Lot airing across two nights on CBS in 1979 – and in the 1990s fans saw the creation of excellence including IT, The Stand, LangoliersAnd Storm Of The Century(which author has identified as his favourite small-screen production).

Constant Readers witnessed the release of a new limited series last year. Lisey’s Story on AppleTV+, and now the news has broken that another project is in the works – this one based on Stephen King’s 2021 novel Later.

DeadlineThis development was first reported by First Reporter. Raelle Tucker is writing the pilot for the limited series. His credits include titles like Supernatural, True blood, and Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Blumhouse Television is the creator of this small-screen venture. It’s being made as a star vehicle to Lucy Liu, who has been a prominent TV personality in recent years due to her roles on shows such as Elementary Why women are so violent.

Later is one of two Stephen King books that were released in 2021 – a continuation of the author’s relationship with publisher Hard Case Crime, which previously put out 2005’s The Colorado Kid(which inspired SyFy) Haven( and 2013’s Joyland. Lucy Liu will portray Tia, a single mother and the owner of a literary agent. When her star client, Jamie, dies, she finds herself in a position of destitution. Jamie, Jamie’s son, is able to communicate with the dead and the people he speaks to must answer his questions honestly.

With Jamie’s help, Tia is able to literally ghost write the dead author’s final novel – though not every dealing with the afterlife has such positive outcomes.

Blumhouse is currently working on a number of Stephen King adaptations. They produced the film. FirestarterThe film, starring ZacEfron, is expected to be released in the second half of this year. The company is also behind the forthcoming Mr. Harrigan’s phoneThe Netflix original, which stars Jaden Marstell and Donald Sutherland, will also be available. Blumhouse currently is working on a remake for ChristineSome of the names are very interesting.
