A nine-month suspension was imposed on a doctor who told a Muslim patient that she had to take her veil off.
Dr Keith Wolverson stated that he had difficulty hearing her through the Niqab.
Her husband complained, and the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service determined that he was discriminatory.
The 2018 incident did not affect Dr Wolverson, a father-of-three from Derbyshire. He was spared being struck off.
Tom Day, his legal representative, admitted that the doctor was indeed “insensitive”.
The GP told Central Recorder: “I’ve been practising unlimited since it happened and there have been no recurrences, which shows how futile the charges are.
“People are suffering daily because they are waiting so long for appointments.
“It is immoral to prevent a doctor from practising with the NHS in this situation.”
