M.A.I. is a robot. M.A.I.I. seized control of the Instagram page for musician M.I.A. The last week has been a busy one. Her message was clear: “M.I.A. is irrelevant. She’s got an expiry date… I am techno humanoid. I’m forever.” Now, audiences are finally introduced to the singer’s replacement through her audition video for the job.
“MIA IS DEAD AF, THE FUTURE IS HERE ITS MAI BITCHES,”The robot was written on a verified account of Twitter. M.I.A. M.I.A. “M.AI is gone A.W.O.L and rogue now It thinks its better then[sic] me.”

The video begins with an off-camera person asking the robot for some information. “I am M.A.I. I am popular.”The hyper-realist then attempts to imitate British musician, performing her best, robotic dance moves. M.I.A. M.I.A. appears throughout the video, showing her how to move her stomach, form her hands into a circle, and whip her locks.
“Popular. I’m popular. I’m really, really popular,” she raps over a reggaetón-like beat, before articles about popularity and social media flash on the screen as M.A.I. She continues her audition until the robot attempts to reach for M.I.A. to share a hug. The video ends with M.I.A. She shoots her potential replacement with water guns, effectively killing it.
