They have been hard at work for years and are now household names thanks to their hit show “Got Back Again”. Fixer Upper,Over the years, they have grown their Magnolia lifestyle and home brand. Now they’ve officially taken it a step further by at last bringing the cable channel Magnolia Network into the linear-verse, and the duo are clearly quite excited about launching a traditional TV network during the prime streaming era.
The pair spoke with Variety About the long road to launching Magnolia Network during the pandemic. Although Discovery+ had a lot to offer, it might not be the best idea to launch a network on linear TV. But at least according to Joanna Gaines, it’s all about connecting with the viewers of any platform.
It would have made sense for Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines, to have their own Discovery+ curated section or to keep the Magnolia app available for streaming audiences only. However, the Magnolia Network was created because they care more about bringing together viewers than following trends. The Gaines will not compromise their platform when it is time to bring content to viewers. The duo like doing things the old school way and for Joanna Gaines, it’s about the nostalgia:
It’s quite interesting that Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines decided to stick with the old-fashioned route when it came to digital options. Although they do have the Magnolia app thanks to Discovery+ the ability to have that linear side opens them up to a wider audience. They are able to attract viewers with both streaming and TV, and with the two of them, it likely won’t be hard to get people to watch.
Magnolia Network launched a long time ago, so Chip Gaines was ready to show it off. According to PeopleMagnolia’s original launch date was October 2020. The network launched then in the early 2021, before finally being launched in January 2022. The network will feature 24 lifestyle-focused shows that were handpicked and selected by the Gaines.
