The code “see agent”, which you may find on your flight document, can be interpreted in several ways.

You may be denied boarding if the airline needs to verify your travel documents.

There are also other, less obvious reasons for you to visit the airline staff.

Overselling flights is a common practice by airlines to compensate for those who fail to show up after booking tickets.

Some passengers are bumped when there is more demand at the airport for seats than the aircraft can accommodate.

Usually, the passengers will receive some compensation for their inconvenience and be re-booked on another flight.

The code “See Agent” on a passenger’s boarding card is not the only thing they should be afraid of.

SSSS usually indicates something that is bad to those who are getting onto the aircraft.

The code stands for “Secondary Security Screening Selection” which means that the passenger has been selected for additional screening by security.

You and your luggage will be given a special look by the officials. Your bags and you will both get a good patdown.

It may also be necessary to submit additional documentation, including proof of your identity as well as a complete itinerary.

It is a good thing that this code only appears on your pass when you fly to the US. Some passengers, however, have claimed to have had their codes printed out while travelling in countries like Turkey.
