Spoilers ahead for Episode 5. Chicago P.D.Season 10 called “Pink Cloud.”
Chicago P.D.Season 10 was a memorable season, to say the least. We are sad to see it end. Jesse Lee Soffer’s Jay HalsteadAfter only three episodes, and then The center of the action Benjamin Levy Aguilar’s Dante Torres. “Pink Cloud”The focus was shifted to Hailey UptonWith Tracy Spiridakos’ character quietly working through the pain of her husband leaving with barely any warning… with an emphasis on “working.”Upton spent her nights working overtime and eventually found a case that was both horrifying and what she needed. P.D.Required after losing Halstead. And the showrunner Gwen SiganAlready, the show’s creator has indicated that the story will continue. So why was the horror such a positive thing for the show.
Upton was working as a moonlighter with another unit when she discovered a girl being held hostage. She had just enough time radio for an ambulance, but an attacker struck her from behind and knocked the girl out. The Intelligence team was able to investigate the case and found that the girl who had disappeared was part of a sex-trafficking operation. It was a pretty gruesome case that came at a time when Upton was already having a hard time without her husband and partner, and didn’t even have a happy ending. Upton was just finding her way home. AbbyAbby decided to jump to her death after she saw her on the roof.
Abby’s death was just another blow for Upton, so why do I think that “Pink Cloud”After saying goodbye to Halstead, was this the right choice for the character? For as much as Upton was dealing with her loss in the episode, she didn’t dwell on it or wallow in it. She persevered in her pursuit of leads, following clues and making the case for herself with help from the rest. She clearly even would have talked Abby down if she hadn’t mentioned SeanThe son of Chief O’NealShe claimed to run a safe space for troubled teens. Upton was in the game even though she was heartbroken.
Upton and Sean clashed from the start, with Chief O’Neal blatantly taking his son’s side and dismissing Upton following her instincts. Despite the clash, she believed that Sean was who he said he was… until she realized that Abby jumped after she mentioned his name, which prompted her to pull an all-nighter of research into him. She discovered that far more teenage girls than just Abby had gone missing when he was supposed to be helping them, and suspects that they didn’t all just fall through the cracks.
It was impressive investigative work. Chicago P.D.Upton needed her to be there for her during this difficult time. She was a capable cop before her major plots were connected to Halstead’s, and an important character independent of her relationship and then marriage to him. There were plenty of Upstead moments that I was able. Her biggest storylines in Season 10 to this point more or less involved her reacting to Halstead spiraling and Voight’s messiness; this episode was a reminder of what she can do when she’s not revolving around anybody else. Would it not have been nice to see Halstead to help her in? “Pink Cloud”The horrifying situation got worse. Yes, Upton may have been able to catch a criminal operating in plain view by following her instincts.
And this storyline definitely isn’t over, based on what the Chicago P.D. showrunner Submitted to CinemaBlend in the fall. Gwen Sigan shared her thoughts on serialized storytelling in Season 10 with Gwen Sigan. She revealed that Jefferson White and Michael Gaston would be the hosts. “recurring through the first nine” episodes as Chief O’Neal and Sean, and fans will see “quite a bit”All of them. With only four episodes left of the first nine, it’s safe to say that P.D.We will continue this storyline sooner than we think.
However, the next episode will be Atwater-centric. This is a good thing considering the Torres episode which featured Atwater as a guide for the rookie cop. Benjamin Levy Aguilar shared Compare Atwater to Halstead’s mentorship.Maybe the next episode will have more Torres and Atwater together as a duo.
