DEATH in Paradise is back for 2020 with a brand new series as Ralf Little takes on the lead role from Ardal O’Hanlon.
But while the island of Saint Marie is fictional, fans can find the real life filming location for the BBC One series in the Caribbean.

Where is Saint Marie?
The island of Saint Marie doesn’t actually exist in real life.
Instead, the show is filmed in the French Caribbean region of Guadeloupe.
Many extras in the show speak French due to its location.
The island is also known as Butterfly Island, due to its shape.

Honore, the town in the TV series, was filmed in the commune of Deshaies in the northwest of the island.
The stunning location boasts long stretches of sandy beaches and palm trees, while the sleepy Deshaies remains a fishing village during the rest of the year.
Many deaths in the show were filmed at Langley Fort Royal Hotel – which doubles as the location where cast and crew stay during filming.
You can book a sea-view room for yourself for around £140 ($185) a night, with breakfast included.
In series eight, Saint Marie Zoo was filmed at Zoo de Guadeloupe, one of the top attractions in Guadeloupe.
And the famous police station is filmed in part of the church of St Peter and St Paul.

How do you get to Guadeloupe?
Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from the UK to Guadeloupe.
Airlines such as Air France and American Airlines fly to the location, with stopovers in Paris, Amsterdam or St Maarten.
Flights can be found for as little as £306 return from London on Skyscanner, with the cheapest month to travel in September.
But there is warm weather all year round, averaging between 25 and 35 degrees.
You can also do a five-hour Death in Paradise tour for around £100 ($130) per person.
You can also visit Isle of Fernando from Take Me Out – although it is actually filmed in Tenerife.
Mamma Mia fans should head to the island of Skopelos in Greece, although the sequel was actually filmed in Croatia.
