TVN’s K-drama Little Women has aired its final episode and here’s the ending of the drama explained.
Loosely based on the American novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, the latest adaptation of Little Women by TVN and Studio Dragon portrayed the story of three sisters who get involved in a case of 70 billion Korean won missing and how they face the richest Korean family in the disproportionate power struggle.
In Joo, In Kyung and In Hye were able to fight no matter how evil or powerful the story was. In return, they got to enjoy a happy ending.
Little Women ending explained
The ending episode featured Little Women with a lot of knots to untie. After the embezzlement arrests, viewers wanted to know what would happen to the 70 million Korean won and if Oh In Joo or Choi Do Il would have a happy ending.
But in Little Women episode 12, both Choi Do Il and In Joo get out of prison as there is no evidence against Do Il except his own confession and In Joo’s charges lessen after Hwayoung comes to the court to reveal the full story.
Hwayoung tells In Joo not to be in her business anymore and tries to send her abroad with Do Il but In Joo gets Sang A’s message on time and reaches the orchid mansion to save Hwayoung.
In Kyung is kidnapped again on her visit to Jang Sa-pyoung, principal of Wonryong School, before the big fight between In Joo & Sang A.
Sang A kills Jang Sa-pyoung, one of the remaining members of the Jeongran society and In Kyung discovers his body in the school right before being kidnapped by Sang A’s people.
The main showdown takes place at the orchid mansion, where Sang A has prepared an Acid Shower to kill both In Jooung and Hwayoung.
In Joo is able to save Hwayoung. She pushes Sang A into a small pond in the garden, where acid kills Sang A.
Choi Do Il arrives on the scene to save In Joo, but not before saving In Kyung from being killed by Go Soo-im.
Oh In Kyung reveals the entire story on TV and receives the reporter of year award as well as a lucrative job offer.
She declines the job offer in order to continue higher education and be with Jongho.
The sweet confession scene of In Kyung where she accepts that her heart also races when Jongho is around is the sweetest scene of Little Women episode 12 and fans can’t get enough of it.
Oh In Joo also wins her dream house, as their great aunt had registered it in their name.
In Hye is the surprise of the night, having planned something with Do Il & Hyorin.
Do Il used Hyorin’s Panama account to keep the money that In Joo was supposed to get and finally all of them get the 70 billion won divided between them.
While fans did not get a happy or conclusive ending for Do Il and In Joo, there’s a hint that Do Il has feelings for In Joo and maybe once things get settled down, he would pursue her as his last goodbye words were “see you again”With a hint of confidence.
Little Women gives each sister her own happy beginnings. In Joo is able to live in a luxurious apartment, In Kyung has the opportunity to study, and In Hye can explore the world and take as many trips as she likes without feeling guilty.
Mini Review of Little Women
Written by Jung Seo Kyung and directed by Kim Hee Won, Netflix and tvN’s K-drama Little Women has been dubbed as a cinematic masterpiece by viewers. Little Women is a film that shows the magic of female characters when written by women.
TVN’s Little Women stayed true to its thriller genre till the end but along with a gritty plotline, it delivered mesmerizing cinematography and an intriguing background score that makes you want to listen on a loop.
Although Little Women might not be your typical coming-of age story, the dystopian feelings are appropriate for this post-modern era where In Hye and In Kyung had to make their own path to finally find what they wanted.
Ratings of Little Women
Little Women is dominating the world as the K-drama ranked number 4 on Netflix Non-EnglishGlobal Top 10 chart garnering 18,940,000 views during the week of September 26th through October 4th.
International success was not the only reason the drama reached such a high rating. The last episode also had a remarkable rating in South Korea. It received 7.7% on average nationwide viewership, according to theChart by Nielson Korea.
