“Vampire Diaries” Creators Reunite to Create Peacock Series “Dead Day”

“The Vampire Diaries”Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, creators of the supernatural drama series, are teaming up once again “Dead Day”Peacock.

Based on AfterShock’s comic book series, “Dead Day”The NBCU streaming service has granted Plec a straight to-series order. Plec will write, executive produce, and serve as co-showrunners in the series.

“We have been looking for a project to do together and ‘Dead Day’ has all the ingredients we love as storytellers,”Plec and Williamson said so. “Love, death, thrills and tears — and we know Susan Rovner and her team at Peacock is the perfect fit for this project.”

The series follows a group of characters as they navigate through the annual “dead day,”For one night, the dead will return to the living to do unfinished business.

“’Dead Day’ combines an exciting, high-concept premise with relatable characters and real emotion,”Lisa Katz, president of scripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “We jumped at the opportunity to work with Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, who not only have tremendous individual track records with their high-quality storytelling, but have created magic together before.”

Plec will be executive producing via My So-Called Company while Williamson will produce under his Outerbanks Entertainment banner. Along with Emily Cummins and Ben Fast from Outerbanks, executive producers are also Emily Cummins and My So-Called Company. Executive producers include Lee Kramer and Jon Kramer as well as David Sigurani, AfterShock Media’s David Sigurani. Ryan Parrott is the author of “Dead Day,”He will also serve as a consultant producer. Plec’s Universal Television deal will allow him to serve as a consultant producer.

“The Vampire Diaries,”The series, which was based upon a YA novel series by the same name, aired on The CW for eight seasons with 171 episodes. It aired from 2009 to 2017. The broadcast network was thrilled with the success of the show, which inspired several spinoffs. “The Originals” “Legacies.”Plec was the only one to create both spinoffs.

Plec is currently involved in the Peacock series “Vampire Academy,”Based on the YA series of the same title. Marguerite MacIntyre was also a co-creator of the series, and they served as co-showrunners. Plec remains an executive producer. “Legacies,” which recently began its fourth season on The CW, as well as The CW’s “Roswell, New Mexico”The upcoming drama series from NBC “The Endgame.”
