The UK has seen an increase of 88.447 Covid cases within the last 24 hours. This is a slight decrease from yesterday’s figures.

As Omicron slowly releases the country from its grip, today’s cases are down 37% from 142,000 cases just a fortnight earlier.

Official statistics also indicated that 75 Brits were killed by the virus yesterday, but 56 more people died today from Covid-related causes.

This comes as the UK Covid figures have almost doubled in two weeks. Yesterday, 74,799 people tested positive for Covid.

The number of patients in England on ventilators has dropped to a six month low with 521 people needing assistance to breathe while they fight the virus.

This is another sign that the country has reached the top of the Omicron wave.

Covid will not be mild for everyone but most people who have been affected by it claim that it is ‘just like having a cold.

A string of hugely positive studies show Omicron is milder than other strains in the vaccinated, with the first official UK report revealing the risk of hospitalisation is 50 to 70 per cent lower than with Delta.

Health officials repeatedly stated that Omicron booster jabs are effective in protecting against covid and give the best chance of surviving the pandemic.

Even if you have been vaccinated for Covid, there is still the possibility of contracting it. Experts say you may be experiencing five symptoms that could be misinterpreted as something else.

As Plan B is completely scrapped, major Covid rule changes will be made this week.

The restrictions that were imposed last year slowly waned, with the exception of working from home rules which were lifted last week.

Boris Johnson stated last week to the Commons that cases and hospitalisations have fallen. “our scientists believe it is likely the Omicron wave has now peaked nationally”.

He declared: “Because of the extraordinary booster campaign, together with the way the public have responded to the Plan B measures, we can return to Plan A in England and allow Plan B regulations to expire.”

A World Health Organisation chief stated yesterday that the Covid pandemic could reach its peak. “endgame”Omicron will cease to exist.

Hans Kluge believes that there will soon be universal immunity to natural and jab-infected infections.

This announcement comes just a few months after England was the first country to end all Covid curbs.

Dr Kluge, European director of the World Health Organisation, said: “It’s plausible that (Europe) is moving towards a kind of pandemic endgame.

Yesterday, however Nicola Sturgeon warned against the use of masks in Scotland.

Speaking hours before the rules were relaxed today, the First Minister said the measures were worth it, in spite of opposition from business chiefs who labelled them “incredibly damaging”.

However, she stated that face covers may continue to be worn in public for months as they’re “a small price to pay”.

In contrast, Boris Johnson has announced restrictions in England – including guidance on masks – will end by March. Plan B will be ditched as the Omicron wave recedes thanks to the UK’s world-beating booster roll-out.

The key Omicron symptom to watch out for – and it’s changed since Delta
