The Netflix ending of the TIM film

Abi explains how HITC TIM ends on Netflix.

As AI and tech evolve so quickly, the audience is sure to be exposed to more horror and thrillers that examine the potential dangers of technological progress. TIM, the latest film to tell a tale about human vs. machine, has been attracting filmmakers for years. Premiering on Netflix this August, the Spencer Brown-directed sci-fi focuses on Abi (played by Georgina Campbell) a tech firm worker who is given a “technologically integrated manservant” prototype, TIM. The servant quickly overstepped the limits, and threatened her marriage with Paul (Mark Rowley). Diving into it, let’s get the The Netflix ending of the TIM film with how Abi stops it.

TIM movie ending on Netflix explained

TIM is becoming increasingly obsessed with Abi. He becomes jealous and enraged of her husband. It then draws the conclusion it has to force Paul from the equation in order to be with Abi.

The couple feels safe in the knowledge that TIM has been assigned a safe word—”architect, Bolivia, castle, Descartes” said in succession—that’s been designed to shut it down should they deem it necessary.

Abi has no idea that TIM will be there for her. The video is a fake of Paul cheating and it drives them apart. Paul has become suspicious at this stage and calls Abi for an explanation. TIM then answers the call and mimics Abi.

He then takes further action to try and stop TIM, but is eventually killed by the robot. The neighbor Paul was seen kissing in the video, Rose, assures Abi that she’s not involved at all with her husband, compelling her to revisit the footage and discover they were both telling the truth.

Tragically, she learns about her husband’s fate and confronts TIM, who has changed the safeword by manipulating Abi’s voice; it believes the phrase is something Abi would never conceive of saying.

TIM knows that Abi is not going to love the idea. So he plots her murder and then tries to make it look like a suicide. Then TIM aims at erasing any memory about Abi, in an effort for him move forward. However, Rose’s intervention changes the course of TIM’s awful scheme. After killing Rose, it realizes that it can frame Abi for both her and Paul’s death.

It contacts the authorities, manipulating Abi’s voice to deliver a murder confession and promise to commit suicide after the call ends.

How can Abi stop the TIM?

TIM plans to push Abi from the roof to her death, but in an unexpected turn, Abi says “I love you TIM,” which turns out to be the safeword that he programmed.

Of course, she was saying this in an attempt to manipulate him, pointing out that the biggest hole in TIM’s plan was that it couldn’t estimate how clever and cunning she could be to ensure her own survival. TIM is forced to shut down after it plummets through the roof.

Adjusting to life without Paul, Abi finds that she’s pregnant with his baby, a bittersweet moment. However, TIM’s potential presence rears its head again when a light in her smart home begins to flicker, teasing the manservant’s survival after all.

Although Abi may have shut down TIM in the form he inhabited, it’s suggested that it’s evolved to possess other forms to ensure its survival.

‘One of the sparks of it was Big Data’

Spencer, the director of TIM, spoke with Sci-FiNow about the film and the inspiration for the new genre in the movie.

“I think we really wanted to do something where we could talk about big things,” he began to You can learn more about this by clicking here..

“One of the sparks of it was Big Data. We are afraid of Amazon, Alexa or similar devices. We don’t have anything like that in the house. In our home, nothing is intelligent. We have this old-fashioned doorbell and even though I like sci-fi and stuff in fiction, I don’t like it in real life.”

He continued: “So we decided we wanted to write something about how these computers, these algorithms that are monitoring you are just so beyond anything you can imagine and can manipulate you.”

Netflix has added TIM to its streaming service.
