Tilda Swinton and Julia Roberts Join Tilda to Attend the Hollywood Event

Julia Roberts received the Academy Museum Gala Icon Award. The event was held at Los Angeles’ Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Tilda Swanton, Steve McQueen, Miky Lee and Steve McQueen were also recognized at the gala for their contributions to film. Roberts was awarded the Icon Award to celebrate her three-decade-spanning career that has had a significant global impact. McQueen was awarded the Vantage Award because she has challenged and contextualized dominant narratives in cinema.

Swinton was awarded the Visionary Award. This award goes to an artist/scholar whose vast oeuvre has contributed to the advancement of cinematic art. Miky Lee received the Pillar Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and support for Academy Museum.

The awards, presented annually at the Academy Museum Gala, reflect the museum’s mission to advance the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema and to expand knowledge and conversation about cinema as a global art form and cultural force.
