STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were very moved as the first dance of the series – featuring the four famous judges – was dedicated to Amy Dowden.
Pro dancer Amy, 33, is undergoing treatment after she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in May.
Tess Daly & Claudia Winkleman send their best wishes as stars perform a dance to honour their “Welsh Dragoon”.
Tess Daly: “We’re missing a professional dancer, Amy Dowden. She is not well and can’t join us for the first episode of the new series.
We know that she will be returning soon.
Claudia told Amy: “From your whole Strictly family, we’re sending you all our love. We can’t believe we have to wait for you back on that dancefloor.”
In the group performance, Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood performed with Motsi Mobuse, Anton Du Beke and other professionals. They sang a medley including Kylie’s Padam Padam, Afraid to Feel by LF System and Higher by Michael Buble.
Those watching at home took to Twitter to discuss the touching moment, with one person writing: “#Strictly aww yes sending so much love to amy! Bless her.”
A second said: “A bit emotional with that shoutout for Amy.”
The third one shared with a number of tears emojis and added: “They’re doing a dance tribute for Amy.”
Amy recently shared an update on her condition after her last round of chemotherapy left her very sick.
She told her followers: “Chemo 4✅ Was extremely sick even with three types of anti sickness. She was also very tired. Going to be resting up.”
Amy went to Instagram Tonight, she shared with us a photo of her joining the group for a team shoot.
She wrote: “My smile the other week after being with the Strictly family, the entire tea,.
“So grateful and lucky to have you all. Listen to the show tonight.
“Can’t wait to support all my friend and their fabulous journeys this year and I’ll be there when I can.”
