‘Schitt’s Creek’ Executive Producer Was 47

Ben Feigin is an award-winning producer who also served as an executive producerSchitt’s CreekHe died Monday from pancreatic cancer. He was 47 years old.

Feigin played an important role in the launch Schitt’s CreekIt was unique in its business model. He found non-traditional financing for the series and sold it on a nonexclusive basis to multiple licensees around the world. He also masterminded the show’s top-grossing international tour with LiveNation, as well as the Netflix documentaryBest Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s CreekFarewell, its pop-up immersive experience that sold-out in under one minute around the globe, and even turned an entire town in upstate-New York into a permanent Schitt’s Creek.

He was awarded multiple awards for his comedy work, including an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Producers Guild Award.

Feigin was born Silver Springs, MD. After graduating from the University of California Santa Barbara, he began his career with Warner Brothers. As an agent trainee, he joined William Morris in the famed mailroom. This is where he met Heidi. He later worked at UTA before becoming a Founding Member of The Collective in 2004.

Feigin joined Anonymous Content in 2006 as their founder of the comedy and enterprise divisions. He also represented A-list talent, writers, comedians, authors and brands. In 2016, Feigin founded Equation Unlimited LLC, which is an entertainment company.

Feigin is credited with pioneering the first live streamed event featuring comedians and musicians early in his career. AOL’s partnership was a major breakthrough in the way live content can be consumed on new platforms. Feigin also reunited Cheech & Chong after 25 years by cutting a lucrative deal with LiveNation for international touring and executive producing their theatrically released, first-ever concert film,Cheech & Chong: Hey Watch This.

Feigin led classes at UCLA, NYU, and UC Santa Barbara and also worked closely with non-profits including StandUp2Cancer, Gilda’s Club World-Wide, The Tony Hawk Foundation, The Creative Coalition, and the Laurene Powell Jobbs’ Emerson Collective. Additionally, he served as a Judge for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Internship Program, as well as an Official Juror for the International Emmy Awards. He was a member of The Producers Guild of America, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Feigin was survived by Heidi Feigin (UTA talent agent) and Ellie Feigin (11). This Thursday, at 12:30 pm at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, services will be held. Donations can be made for Stand Up For Cancer and the Ben Feigin Pancreatic Research Fund.
